NW 10th St & Griffin Rd
Project Description Broward’s County’s Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is pursing the addition of a temporary northbound signal at the existing signal located at the intersection of Griffin Road and NW 10th Street to accommodate a request by the City of Dania Beach. This additional stoplight signal will provide vehicles leaving the two construction staging areas (occupied by MCM and Hunt/Moss) and the Melaleuca Gardens residential community on the south side of Griffin Road with a permitted and signalized movement to access Perimeter Road. It will also keep construction vehicles from having to drive on NW 10th Street and in front of the Melaleuca Gardens residential community.
In order to accomplish this, NW 10th Street needs to be realigned in order to provide a 200-foot queuing length at the subject intersection in order for vehicles to appropriately stack at the newly signalized northbound movement. Additionally, a temporary driveway will be constructed approximately 220 feet east of the subject intersection to allow vehicles to continue east on NW 10th Street as this portion of the intersection must be closed in order for the temporary northbound signal to be approved. The roadway, drainage, signing and pavement marking design is being prepared by the Broward County Aviation Departments engineering consultant The Corradino Group/Keith & Associates. Broward County Traffic Engineering Division will install the signalization improvements in conjunction with the construction of the proposed roadway improvements.
The Broward County Aviation Department is making these improvements to minimize the impact to residents and to keep construction vehicles away from the roadways used by residents.
