Job-Training, Workforce Development and Certification Financial Assistance Pilot Program

Dania Beach Job-Training & Career Development Program

With the unemployment rate in Broward County climbing above the national average due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the City of Dania Beach proposes a Job-Training, Workforce Development and Certification Financial Assistance Program to encourage adolescents, recent high school graduates, residents involved with the marine industry, and more importantly individuals recently unemployed due to the Coronavirus to re-enter the workforce and obtain higher salaries.

The City’s Fiscal Year 2021 adopted budget includes a Pilot Program for individuals specifically seeking employment within the marine industry. 
The City of Dania Beach has developed partnerships with Educational, Career Development and Job-Training Institutions to implement this program. 

The City is a major player in South Florida’s academic, marine, and tourism industries.

  • AMO -American Maritime Officers Simulation, Training, Assessment and Research Center
  • SeaTech-FAU’s Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering
  • Derecktor Shipyards
  • City’s 120 Slip Marina
  • Dania Beach Pier
  • Boating & Fishing
Technical Certifications Include:
  • Marine Electrician (TC1)
  • Marine Propulsion (TC2)
  • Marine Technology (TC3)
  • Marine Systems (TC4)
The program facilitates financial assistance with:
  • Transportation
  • Child-Care & Elderly Care Services
  • Adolescent Tutoring Programs
  • Rental and Utility Assistance
  • Certification and Exam Fees
  • Job-Training Employer Wage Reimbursement
  • Required Educational Books and Supplies
  • Required Apprenticeship Tools
  • Tuition/Loan default at other Educational Institutions**
The City has partnered with CareerSource Broward and Broward College to establish the Job-Training, Workforce Development and Certification Financial Assistance Pilot Program.Partnership Role:
  • Financial assistance breakdown (OJT, scholarship program, paid internships).
  • Referrals from CSBD to the City of Dania Beach for other support services.
  • Promoting the MIASF registered apprenticeship program among Dania Beach residents and employers.
